University of Alabama coach Avery Johnson has offered former San Antonio Spurs teammate Malik Rose a special assistant to the head coach position, league sources told Yahoo Sports.
Rose is considering the offer to
join Johnson's staff, and is expected to make a decision over the
weekend, sources told Yahoo Sports.
Johnson was hired the Crimson
Tide's coach in March and recently offered the job to Rose. Since
retiring from the NBA in 2009, Rose has risen to prominence as a TV
analyst for NBA TV and Philadelphia 76ers broadcasts. He also co-hosts a Sirius XM radio show with Frank Isola.
Rose won two NBA titles as a member of the Spurs, where he played eight seasons.
